Lieutenant S. Gorman

Lt. Gorman proves to be somewhat less of a fearless hero. Spectuation leads me to believe Gorman, being relatively inexperienced, was picked by Burke so an alien could easily be brought back without any complaints. From the beginning we see a tightly fit squad of marines.... that is except for the commander of the operation. In the breakfast scene, hushed voices comment about the new Lieutenant. Gorman is teased around some during the briefing by Hudson and tries to pull things quickly under his command by issuing some quick orders for preparation. He takes up a seat in the back of the APC where all the communications controls are, including bio readouts and helmet cam views from all the marines.
On the drop down we find out the awesome Lt. has gone through a whopping 2 missions including this one. Never-the-less, the squad obeys his orders and storms the remains of the colony. Things seem to go smoothly until the marines enter the hive. Out of advice from Burke and Ripley, he orders rifles to be slung... flame units only (because of the atmosphere processor reactor). This confuses and angers the squad, but they proceed onward. After the chest burster from the cocconed colonist is fried, the walls begin to move as the aliens awaken. Gorman begins to lose his grip. The trackers show huge amounts of movement surrounding the group and Gorman sits in fear, unable to give any orders.
The aliens attack out of nowhere and confusion takes control. Frost is quickly toasted by Dietrich's frame thrower as she is hauled away. Frost's bag containing all the ammo ignites and takes out Wierzbowski and Crowe. Vasquez and Drake unleash their smart-guns and open fire. Gorman flips because of this, ordering them to hold fire, unable to comprehend what's going on, let alone give combat orders. Apone tries to maintain control as Gorman orders him to fall back. Apone gets taken out, and Gorman just sits in disbelief. Ripley takes control and takes the APC in the hive. When leaving, some boxes fall on Gorman, knocking him out. Gorman later awakens when
matters have gotten much worse. On the final trip out of the complex though the air vents, Vasquez is badly burned by alien acid. Gorman rushes back to help her. We see the same power grip, that was shared with Vas and Drake, right before he pushes the button on the grenade and blows them up. This explosion causes Newt, who is farther up the tunnel, to fall into a different shaft.
