Do you remember your first Prodigy gig?

I remember mine was somewhere around 1994 just as Jilted Generation was being released. It was at London Brixton Academy and my first real proper 'big gig'. To make things better a young Chemical Brothers were the support act playing loads of early Exit Planet Dust style tunes which got everyone pumped for Prodigy. Two favourite acts for one price!!!

I was at the front when Liam came on stage and he hit this bass note, my shorts flapped in the bass breeze and a layer of dust shook down from the ceiling! Then a crazy Keith came on inside the ball, followed by a red evil eyed Maxim who kicked Keith around the stage for a while inside the ball before letting him out. Some guy stumbled on stage and smashed a bottle over Keiths head to go in time with the bottle smashing noise in Break n Enter, and then all hell broke loose and I can't really remember the rest.

All I do know is that if one person jumped, you all jumped. Awesome!!!

fuck. that is epic. don't know about this "bass breeze" though. sound can't move air. :P

my first Prodigy gig will be in February 2009. I've missed out each time they've come to australia for various reasons. :(

My first gig was in December 96, the Point Depot in Dublin.

I was only 15 at the time, still a lot of ravers there clinging onto the bus of the early 90's with the while gloves, dust masks and whistles lol!

There were 2 warm up dj's, Jon Carter and Kris Needs. Fluke were the band supporting too, i didn't know who they where till they played Atom Bomb.

I remember Kris Needs dropping Anarchy in the UK right before the Prodigy came on. I was 2 rows behind at the front and it was crammed there!

SMBU played first and crowd went mental. Lots of people were getting crushed and were quickly taken out, i was one of them lol.

Got up to the balcony and watched the rest of the gig. Truly amazing.

Loved every second of it and made sure every time they came back to Ireland i was gonna be there.

That's the recording there of the gig i put up in the live thread. Enjoy!

my first one was secc 05

man huge 22 tracklist, 1 hour and 20 minutes+ of madness, break and enter, jericho, hotride, charly, action radar, i couldn't ask for more, best bit was my mate who took me got sconed right in the back of the head with a plastic cup of beer half filled.

i don't know how anyone couldn't become a fan with pulling a concert like that, and i'm goin to live it again in just a few months :-D

My first Prodigy gig was on the 25th of Nov 2005, at the NIA in Birmingham. I remember gettin to the venue really early as i wanted to rush in and get right to the front. and i did! Me and 2 of my mates were waiting around for ages, there wasnt even any music playing for a good half an hour or so, then some random dance music came on which was nice and funky, loved most of the beats that were dropped.

then after a while the music went down and i turned around to see the whole place full, all the seats around the edge and for what seemed like miles behind me were rows and rows of people. my sister had a seating ticket with a couple of friends and she said we just looked like ants down there hehe. but yeah, then the audio bullys marched on, at this point in time i fuckin loved them and nearly exhausted myself raving to them.

then after a while they went off, the lights when down and the stage lights began flashing, with a real heavy bass kicking in, i knew this was some sort of intro being played and it shook the whole building. liam walked on stage and went back to his equipment, the bass building stronger and liam and maxim shot on stage (i think the guitarist and drummer came on the same time as liam or a couple of secs after). a few drums kicked in then all went silent apart from a heartbeat like sound pounding through the building. it was then i knew break and enter was coming on, a total shock and that song blew me away, it really did, as i only remembered a few songs being played after that and the rest was a blur!

After break and enter, the only tracks i remember hearing were spitfire, hotride, charly, smack my bitch up and out of space. the whole experience was just amazing. i had a few guys come up to me afterwards saying they liked my tshirt (it said "He LOVES the cock" with an arrow pointing to left or right hehe) then i remember walking out and people at the door handing us our tickets back, which is still bluetacked to my wardrobe from the night i got home :)

Not quite. In fact, it's molecules in the air pushing against each other that allow sound vibrations to travel from the source outwards. If the vibrations are strong enough (in this case, a whole bunch of bass drivers are pushing air molecules very strongly) then you will 'feel' the effects. Just think of a wave machine moving water at your local swimming pool - same principal. And you're right...it was epic!

1996 Manchester Apollo, Breath Tour.

First ever proper gig and I was 15, me and my mate stood at the front for hours waiting for them to come on stage, Support from what i can remember was Eboman which was pretty sweet as I had his first ep at that time. I remember watching Electronic Punks on video before i went and expecting a similar sort of gig but man was i in for something completely different!

The curtains pulled back before they came on to reveal an amazing stage set up, a full decked out house complete with fish tank, lampshades with strobes in, skins on the walls like the breath vid and a second stage at the back with sofas and other items on! I just remember the buzz at being right central at the front getting crushed from the anticipation before they came on...

Then when they arrived on stage the crowd were feverpitched, id never experienced anything like it, the heat, the buzz of seeing the prodigy for the first time right in front of me! Maxim had a massive beaver-like fur jacket on with kilt and i could clearly see the whites in his eyes i was that close!

Then the intro kicked in, which to this day is by far my fav intro (usual suspects sample) then i could hear this distorted sound loop id never heard before.. it was the intro to SMBU! at this point no one around me had heard this tune, we had all heard firestarter but all of this was new material... I just remember the build up and then when the first beat kicked in i truly can say i have never ever felt a beat hit me so hard like that!! I felt like id been kicked in the head! with maxim screaming SMBU kicked in and rolled on, the crowd went fucking nuts, sick infact!!

From there on in, i lost a trainer from jumping so hard, breathe came along and again new material for me, but the highlight was Minefields by far. Those beats, the lyrics and to this day my fav prodigy tune ever just smashed my head in! Keith came over loads, i was grabbing his jacket going nuts, i was so close to them that i could literally feel the wind of leeroy as he whooshed past, proper intense stuff.

They ended with Gabba, which ripped the fucking roof off! and then it was home time,

I left a sweating mess, me and my mate got picked up by my dad and i could hardly speak, i was just buzzing my tits off and had minefields lyrics rolling around in my head for days afterwards!

As i walked out my dad was waiting with his mate, who worked at the apollo, he told us to wait there and he was going to get me something....

He came back with signed autographs from Liam, Maxim & Leeroy!!! Keith was no where to be seen! So i had this peice of A4 paper with their signatures on, couldnt be fucking better! I still have them framed, with sweaty stained ticket and small tour ad from the NME!

I've seen them so many times after that gig, in big stadiums, festivals, smaller gigs but nothing compares to that gig and the energy from it!

Yeah, I saw this set too at their gig at Battersea Power Station. There was a fuckin massive fan at the back that Keith stood in front of when either Firestarter or Serial Thrilla came on. It's probably the coolest looking set I've seen, clearly based on the Firestarter Single / Granny Molotov theme. Oddly enough, Placebo were the support act. I liked them at the time but I don't think they fitted with the occasion.

I'm pretty sure it was a one off gig, and it was definitaley at Battersea Power Station, which itself looked awesome 'cos they had Batman style moving nightlights outside, flashing up the building and into the sky! Anyway, it was a real cool sight and a real cool night!

Yeah i remember that stage as well from the dublin gig, i remember there was a couch stuck to the wall as well and some stairs either side of the stage leading up to behind liam to the rest of the room, looked proper quality!

I've had a look around and it was the last show of the tour that we're talking about on 22/12/1997. It was a massive stage; there was the lounge set-up that we're all talkin' about, but there was definitely the huge fan at the top back left of it all to present Keith in all his might! Anyone got any pics?
