We all know that sometime around EXP/MFTJG remasters XL Recordings reissued vinyl records. As far as I know those don't have different covers and catalog numbers (at least I haven't noiced any differences). So I went to my local record store (yes, I have one in my city too!) and checked matrix numbers on all their Prodigy records. Pattern is similar so when looking for 1st pressing look after totally different numbers. On the other hand if anyone can check records in their collection perhaps we could make this list more complete (and also update entries on discogs).

Those are 2008 pressings:
Code:
Breathe           B 66 81 62-01 A1 HL (B1 HL on different side, same on all others)
One Love          B 66 69 43-01
Firestarter       B 66 69 50-01
Voodoo People     B 95 68 38-01
Smack My Bitch Up B 95 68 44-01
Poison            B 95 68 40-01

I was actually trying to find out about this here: http://theprodigy.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=4889

Did a little research comparing my 12"s (probably represses) to the data on discogs and noticed a few things:

Fire • Jericho and No Good
The original one has barcodes on labels, a repress does not (see the photos on discogs). Also slightly different matrix on Fire/Jericho and completely different one on No Good.

Firestarter
Repress has a totally different matrix compared the original one.

XLT 70 A B666950-01 A1 MK
XLT 70 B B666950-01 B1 HL

The rest of my 12" had some small differences in matrixes compared to the data on discogs (for example some of the single numbers and letters missing from the gaps between the Cat# and "THE EXCHANGE"). The labels looked pretty much identical.

It would be really interesting to find a "pattern" in this whole "original vs. repress" thing.
I'll post the complete list of my matrix#'s here during the week.

I have all originals that were all bought when they were released, infact the 1st week of release for every track apart from What Evil Lurks so ill have 1st pressings of each track

I remember the 1st batch of re-releases coming out in Jan/Feb 2006 on 12 and cd as I bought a few doubles for back up

If I get time this weekend Ill check up on the originals and see what I have to compare

Ok, heres the list of my singles (I'll add albums later). All purchased in 2004-2005 except for No Good and Firestarter which I bought a few weeks ago from Juno (and both have completely different matrix# compared to my older ones).

I tried to make this list as accurate as possible. I start the codes with cat# and continue following the runout grooves in a clockwise direction. When a number or letter is inside this tag: < > it means that it is etched sideways comparing to the other text.

Everybody In The Place
A: XLT 26 A1 <6> ANDY 91 DAMONT RESPECT TO MY EQUIPMENT AND MY MIND
B: XLT 26 AA1 <6> DAMONT

Fire (CLEARLY A REPRESS Because of the missing barcode on labels)
A: XLT 30 A1 THE EXCHANGE DAMONT
B: XLT 30 B1 THE EXCHANGE DAMONT

Out Of Space
A: XLT 35 A1 <2> DAMONT I THE EXCHANGE
B: XLT 35 B1 <2> THE EXCHANGE - I DAMONT (etched under the exchange)

Wind It Up
A: XLT 39 A2 S.D.THE EXCHANGE <2> <1> ( 1 smudged over) DAMONT
B: XLT 39 B2 <2> S.D. DAMONT

One Love
A: XLT 47 A1 <2> DAMONT
B: XLT 47 B1 <2> DAMONT

No Good (REPRESS FOR SURE)
A: XLT 51 A B956836-01 A1 HL
B: XLT 51 B B956836-01 B1 HL

Voodoo People
A: XLT 54 A1 <3> EXCHANGE DAMONT A
B: XLT 54 AA1 <2> DAMONT

Poison
A: XLT 58 A2 <1> DAMONT <S>
B: XLT 58 B1 <3> DAMONT <S>

Beathe
A: XLT 80 A1 <4> DAMONT MIKE'S THE EXCHANGE
B: XLT 80 AA1 <4> DAMONT MIKE'S - THE EXCHANGE

Firestarter (REPRESS FOR SURE)
A: XLT 70 A B666950-01 A1 MK
B: XLT 70 B B666950-01 B1 HL

Smack My Bitch Up
A: XLT 90 A1 THE EXCHANGE - NiLZ. <3> DAMONT
B: XLT 90 B1 <5> DAMONT THE EXCHANGE - NiLZ.

Heres what I suspect (but don't know anything for a fact).
There has been at least one serie of represses around the time of reissue of WEL and Charly (2004) and those are the records I have above. Then there must have been a second major repress serie maybe a few years ago or so with the totally different matrix#:s (like on my No Good and Firestarter).
Any opinions on that?

I'm really looking forward for subtract's list now so we can start comparing :)
