Post subject:  Live Albums

just read an interview with josh homme about the re-release of qotsa self titled debut cd next month and he said something very interesting

he would like to record each of qotsa'a albums live

what a concept

prodigy should do that too...perform each one of the albums over 2-3 nights in a designated city with the intent to record them to make a live album of each album using the best takes to make a complete track list

select differnt cities...to spread the wealth...not all in uk...maybe one in uk...one in germany...one in australia, japan or italy or wherever

think of all the tracks that dont get played live that we would have...dont think it would ever happen in a million years but it is a nice day dream...and those would be some graet gigs

thoughts?

I wouldn't care much. I'd prefer studio material anytime

Be quite cool, but what about something like the Live from Maida Vale thing? Kinda record one of the old albums entirely live in a studio but with a more current twist n sound to it. Quite pointless but still wud be cool to hear something like Experience brought bang up to date with Keith n Maxim doing vocals as well.

I'd love to hear all the new live mixes in full quality, but i'd rather not have to hear Keith and Maxims terrible mic work

Agreed - they work out awesome live, but on home speakers Maxim and Keith just lose their potency

I would prefer studio versions of the current live versions of old tracks ... Voodoo 2010, No Good 2010, Out Of Space 2010, Everybody In The Place 2010, Colours 2010, etc. etc.

I.E.: I dunno if this happens on every Depeche Mode gig worldwide, but a work mate told me, you can pre-order a live record of the current Depeche Mode gig before and you will get your copy of it 1 - 2 weeks later. This would be cool for Prodigy-gigs....

dp did that for their last tour...something like over 35 live gigs...they had a website

Naaah! Pleas no. Prodigy gigs are mindblowing, but audio recordings of it always sucks. Video recordings are good but still far away from their live energy. They need ppl to come to their gigs, not to listen it at home. Only epic recordings like Milton Keynes, Red Square and few others make sense to be released.

But one release with studio versions of reconstructed tracks made for live playing, aka live remixes, are good idea. It would be a must have cd(s) for every DJ on the planet. ;-)

liam will probably never do that, he always mentions that you can't download the prodigy live. all the remakes he does for the live shows are amazing, even better than the studio, but he only makes them for the live shows. but it is possible they would make another maida vale session with the new album.

josh homme is damn fine though.. he is the second artist for me, comes second after howlett. they both makes music of awesome.
