I am sorry to say it's real. they played it on a radio station here yesterday. the full britney album is gonna be produced by dubstep artists. don't know which ones though.. but thinking i'll have to hear dubstep with britney's voice from now on is just awful. everyone's doing dubstep nowadays, and i am not saying it's bad.. but they're just fucking the genre up.. i love people that create their own version of the genre, but this is just lazy dumb shit made by a fucking douchebag that calls himself a dubstep producer only to get some money in the bag.
EDIT : oh and i am already putting my money on the black eyed peas releasing a dubstep record this year

dubstep went pop...
just like "Indie Rave" / NuRave
Just like Drum & Bass
just like house
just like rave
just like disco
I mean... seriously - not surprised that this is happening. It happens with EVERY electronic sub genre, it has a grass roots beginning, then a "strong underground following" then an artist "makes it big time" then the "underground takes over" then it goes into over saturation, then it's "old news" then "it's dead"... then there's the revival, endlessly happening again and again.
as far as that Britney Spears thing... yeah - that's kinda scary. One thing though... is that there are also AWESOME James Holden remixes of one of her tracks ("Breathe On Me") - the only thing worthwhile she's done
oh and she did do a track with LCD Soundsystem a waaaaaaayyyyyss back (like some time after "Losing My Edge" but before their first album was released - if I remember correctly). Although it never was officially released (and I lost my mp3 copy)
and other pop performers / groups have had some decent tracks/ remixes made by more credible artists. Like - the James Holden remix of Madonna's "Get Together" or the tracks Boys Noize (yes - THAT Boys Noize) did for Black Eyed Peas (yes - THAT shitty group)[/b]
(edit)
but getting back to the point - dubstep, or at least the roots of it, is totally not crap.
Like - what do you think about Burial, Kode9, or even Shackleton?

Is it because:
- you dubstep lovers secretly have such a bad taste that you would even buy a Britney Spears track with dubstep in it, or;
- do the masses also love dubstep because it's so simplistic mixtures of shit, or;
- is this track really REALLY brilliant?
I think the first two are true. Dubstep is like comparing dick size.

there are so many differences in dubstep records.. okay, they all have the same bassline.. but every genre has. it's the art to create something new with it. keep an eye on artists like James Blake, as far as i know nobody is so experimental with dubstep than him at the moment
