Back from yesterday's gig in Athens. The Bros were outstanding with very promising new tunes and have to admit that especially the first 1hr of their set was totally brill while the last 30min it went more deep.. They performed a 2hr set in total with 4 around new tunes.. That 'Acid Children' with Aurora samplin vox was nuts! 'Mad as hell' is our new blaster! |

These guys aged the best out of all the 90's big beat acts. Mad as Hell sounds like one of their best tunes ever. |

Translation: "We play a lot of unreleased songs at the moment and even if I'm anxious to reveal them as well, it allows us to test them, even if they are then edited in the studio. But we have finally finished our new album, it should even be mixed when we land at Bercy. He is rather wild, brutal, radical but relaxed ..." https://mobile.lesinrocks.com/2018/09/1 ... 111126227/ |

I enjoyed Free Yourself, but I'm a bit underwhelmed by the overall production/master. It just sounds too tame or something. I wish it had a little edge like their older production, for example Music: Response or even Come With Us. This sounds very Born In The Echoes production-wise and that album is toward the bottom of my Chem Bros top albums list. It sounds like they EML Ritual/C.H.E.M.I.C.A.L./Direkt Buki meets the melody from Saturate and the breakdown of Base 6, but with that Born In The Echoes production. Just wished it was livelier, had a little more edge. The song has its psychedelic bits, but it seems like they pushed those elements back a bit in the mix to focus on a more radio friendly mix. Seems like ever since Do It Again, the Chems have this standard dance single motif going with their albums. Then Escape Velocity, then Sometimes I Feel So Deserted. The song itself ain't bad, it just sounds a lot better live. They push the mix harder. But folks who bash The Prodigy saying they are repeating themselves when it came to The Day Is My Enemy and Invaders Must Die, well it seems like the Chems are doing the same and we're possibly getting another Born In The Echoes. |
