The old arcade machine sample is too loud and goes on for too long.

I used to really like The Chemical Brothers but over time their music has moved further and further away from my taste. They're more House and club music now compared to their beats, acid and sirens origins.

Free Yourself sounds like a Basement Jaxx tune. (especially the vocals).
Not bad but... nothing there that makes me want to listen to it ever again.

Their club sound is what is keeping them relevant, tbh.
They at least can get their singles played in clubs, still.

New Prodigy tunes aren't really played in clubs anymore...
(with the exception of the remixes).

I don't doubt the direction The Chemical Brothers music has gone in has been good for them commercially and has got them played in clubs. I have never really liked House/club music so it's not for me.

Unless it was a Drum & Bass night or something most clubs play what I'd refer to as House music. That means you'll never hear a track by The Prodigy in one of those sort of clubs.

Even in breakbeat and drum and bass sets,
it's very very rare to hear Prodigy tunes
that aren't the classics from FOTL, Jilted, Experience...
The new stuff isn't getting much play (outside of the remixes).
(Andy C never dropped Rockweiler)

I vaguely remember Diplo playing the Re-Amp of Invaders Must Die but that was a while ago.
Nina Kraviz still plays No Good from time to time.
Detboi played Warriors Dance.

Critically, too.
Chemicals make music in an "evergreen" genre that is still very hip among tastemakers and producers.
They are still a beloved part of a music "scene".

Rave and the Big Beat scenes are long gone
and the Prodigy don't belong to any "scene"
they are ..mostly a festival band.

would be nice to hear liam go back to techno and drum and bass inspired tracks,
is what i'm getting at. :Firestarter:

An awesome in depth article on The Chemical Brothers live set up and performance...

Important quote... they haven't an additional computer with Pro Tools that records every show's audio along with separate mics/tracks for recording the audience.

Dear Chem Bros,
RELEASE. THAT. SH!T.

So, just watched the "Free Yourself" video. Looks cool and fit with the tune ;-)
Reminds me quite a lot of "HBHG" and this seems to be one of the complete bangers off the new album
