Barking is the title of Underworld’s first album in three years, and their first to be constructed with a brilliant cast of co-conspirators. All the tracks were written by the band in their Essex studio before being given to handpicked studio heads from across the whole spectrum of dance music to add some of their style and creativity to the band’s raw material. The result is a pimped-up Underworld record and their finest collection of songs in over a decade.
Released September 13th through Cooking Vinyl.

Bird 1 (additional production by Dubfire)
Always Loved A Film (a/p Mark Knight & D. Ramirez)
Scribble (a/p High Contrast)
Hamburg Hotel (a/p Appleblim & Al Tourettes)
Grace (a/p Dubfire)
Between Stars (a/p Mark K & D. Ramirez)
Diamond Jigsaw (a/p Paul van Dyk)
Moon In Water (a/p High Contrast)
Louisiana

Scribble, the first new material from the new album to see the light of day, is available now from underworldlive.com and will be commercially released on 28th June 2010, including a remix by Hospital recording artist, Netsky. The band will also headline the iTunes Festival at London’s Roundhouse on 17th July

This is possibly the most anticipated album of the year for me. Loving the looks of that Netsky remix too 8-)

Underworld + High Contrast and Netsky? Please no! Hope that the album will not be in dnb / liquid style. Want only Underworld.

i love underworld and i'm really lookin forward to the album.

but..

listenin to netsky remix, wondering - what the fuck happened to drum'n bass?
why do all these idiots use the same beats, the same bassdrums, basslines and this annoying snare thing?
drum n bass is turning into the happy hardcore of electronic dance music. it's a shame. thank god i own records of goldie, roni size and all. these artists actually mattered.

I've got to disagree with you guys. I too love the old sounds of jungle. Renegade Snares is among my favourite tunes. However, I feel there's a lot of depth in liquid drum and bass and a lot of originality can be found. I'm loving dnb more than ever atm and that's mainly due to Hospital Records. Admittedly, Netsky isn't really trying anything new here in this remix, but you can hear how he's experimenting with different sounds in his new album. I definitely wouldn't say all liquid dnb is generic, just listen to Mistabishi's Printer Jam for instance (and forget about his bad press recently).

One thing I hope we can agree on is that liquid dnb tends to be less generic than jump up in general. Even so his tracks can be good in small doses live (like Machete), Dj Hazard (as well as many others) doesn't try anything new at all in his tunes from what I've heard. Saw him live at MOS recently too. It was just different squelching sounds on the same drumbeat for an hour and there were no breakdowns.

I do respect how everyone has their taste in music. I can't let liquid DnB be compared to happy harcore though... That's just too far :P

Hated this netsky remix...i'd rather be listening to born slippy a million times...drum and bass has lost it...the angry stuff is so much better

liquid DnB pffft... that Netsky remix is better defined as Drum'n'Cheese. "liquid" doesnt indicate that its DnB the scooter way :)

that track is terrible. and that synth at the beginning DOES sound like happy hardcore. in all honesty if i hadnt of read that it was 'drum and bass' i would of expected to hear some hard 4/4.

dnb has evolved into a very unusual style at the moment for me. i dont like the clean beats that seem to be popular at the moment. but its evolving and thats something that i respect. if people were still trying to push 97 dnb as fresh then the scene would have no respect whatsoever.

but it is becoming more and more mainstream as the years go on. i wonder where its going to be in 2 or 3 years...

EDIT

ive just listened to the original mix of that track. i thought that crappy synth was just in that remix. apparently not

lame!

While compiling the 20th anniversary edition of album ‘dubnobasswithmyheadman’ The Misterons kept a watchful eye on the music that never made the official release. Pieced together from old dats, floppy disks and cassette tapes by The Misterons… Here’s a peak at what they found.
