So how about some frigging news...
I know it's been quiet in the world of NEOREV with my recent move to a new place taking much of my focus away for music this last month or so. But I was sporadically working on new things here and there as well as finishing up projects that I was in the middle of before the move.
So here we go...
Got a couple of tracks that I've been working on with Susan Wintruba a.k.a.
IT WAS JULY... one for my upcoming release and one for her upcoming release. You may remember Susan with her amazing vocal contribution on my last release, the
"No Control EP."
Well, Susan returns in full gear on another blistering electronic pop-rock track called
"Rollercoaster."
I remember us chatting online and asking each other,
"How the hell do we top No Control?" We wanted to continue that fun and edgy vibe without regurgitating the same crap. And we feel that we definitely took it up another notch. What makes this track a step forward rather than standing in the same place is that... well, it's just so damn fun and bouncy.
We got a couple of things brewing that will reveal themselves over time... but let's dive into Susan's solo project
IT WAS JULY's world for a bit...
She recently released the lead single
"Mean" to promote her forthcoming album "Erratic." The single features remixes by Brainkiller/Music Playground's own
AQUILA and new to our little gang of producers
EQAVOX.
Be sure to head over to her official Bandcamp page, where the single is available for free download...

Her upcoming release will feature the bonus track called
"The Switch," which is a full on musical collaboration between Susan and myself rather than just her lending her voice. I'm also working on a remix of one of her album tracks for a future release, but shhhh... it's a secret.

And speaking of collabs...
I got a couple of upcoming shows helping out my boy
CENTRI, a rapper from Brooklyn, with his live performance. You may know him from his vocal contributions on the tracks
"Prune Juice" from the
"Wildfire EP" and
"Monetary Policy" from the
"No Control EP." This won't be the first time we have performed together live. He's joined me on stage at a few NR shows to rock some of our collabs live and the response was great.
Check out his tune
"M.O.M.M." featuring fellow rappers Sha Stimuli, Akir, Dokta Strange, and produced by P.R.O. on his official Bandcamp page...

...and also available is his mixtape titled

CENTRI and I met through a mutual friend/fellow rapper about two years ago and we instantly hit it off like we were old friends... and creatively and musically, the music just flowed out. Since then we've been working on a bunch of tunes that we plan to spread across each other's releases. And while some tracks will show up here and there on our individual solo projects, behind the scenes we are cooking up a joint project that we like to call
BLACK LUNG. CENTRI has a forthcoming solo album featuring some of our collabs as well as my own forthcoming release. After that, we plan to focus our energies on
BLACK LUNG and kick off with a proper EP.

So yeah, lots of things going on in the world of
NEOREV while it seems like nothing is going on
Lots of projects besides NR beats. Collaborating has been really fun and re-ignited my enthusiasm musically and creatively. I feel my own production has benefited from working with outsiders with their own styles and methods rather than sticking it out alone in the claustrophobic world of
NEOREV. As 2013 progresses, these projects will reveal themselves and take us into the year 2014.
Until then...
keep rocking!
