Its getting streamed on Friday isn't it.

It's only getting streamed in stores, not online...so most of us may not get to hear it. But it may still leak anyway. It seems strange that it hasn't already. 11 days til Australian release. So close.

You're right about this (with the little addition that we'll only hear how it sounded in the mastering studio, not where Liam and Neil where), but honestly: The way the recent tracks sounded it doesn't really matter much if we get a 16 or 24 bit file, as the shit is absolutely limited dead anyway. Math says, we get a few bits more headroom, sure, but it ain't gonna bring us the dynamic back. I've seen you talk bout the final file quality here lots of times, complaining about iTunes formats etc., and while I generally agree that "uncompressed" 24/96 .wav is the way to go - you never complain about how these masters sounds, which is a much bigger problem quality wise than final file resolution.

I'd take a decently mastered album in 320 kbps .mp3 over a shit mastered 24/96 .wav record anytime.

If they'd just stop trying to compete in that old school loudness race.
I'm sure they've squashed most of these bad, bad transients on the way during the mix (and writing phase, probably) already, seeing that Liam seems to like things noisy and muddy and woofy, but the mastering didn't help and just squeezed out the last bits of dynamic for the sake of - what - radio playability?
FOTL was fairly brick walled too (check out Diesel Power), but it still breathed at some points and was tastefully mixed and mastered. It didn't have that over-processed sound.
I thought Liam had learned from AONO. He acknowledged in some interview that AONO was terribly mastered and threw some people off.
This is just a wall of white noise at many a times and no headroom in the world, be 24 bits, 1080 bits or whatever you can imagine will save it.
I'd love to hear the mixed, not yet mastered tracks, at some point. Just to see how it sounded before the Wall of Death. Pun intended.

Ok, well at least we officially know that WoD will be the next single. But a week before the actual release of the album, I'll be amazed if we haven't heard the whole thing before that.
