Most of us use discogs to catalog their collections, it's also a marketplace. I've got an idea to discuss Prodigy submissions here. I don't know if there are any moderators among us but any comment in submission is helpful. Sometimes it's just about confirming catalog number but sometimes the case is more complicated. Just recently Yaro, biggest Prodigy collector in Poland joined Discogs and started to make many submissions, some are clear (adding XL as second label) but some are discussed. So, to begin, Prodigy pending submissions (so You can browse):

http://www.discogs.com/pending?artist=Maxim
And a case which interest me at most, top submission about chaning Prodigy description:
http://www.discogs.com/subs/view/3835382
I hope I wrote my idea clear : )

I used to be a moderator but gave up on it.
Recently I'm getting into the disogs discussion about stamped promo isseus are supposed to be listed seperately to their commercial release or not. Since there's not much difference between 'm the mods seem to disagree a lot... Making me post stuff a gazzilion times over. Very frusty

Discogs is so full of pricks, its doomed to go wrong. I gave up on that site long ago. Its based on good ideas from wikipedia and imdb, just carried out very poorly. Submissions takes up to months, constantly changing rules creates inconsistence, same inconsistence makes submissions take longer because they aply a new comma rule or capital letter rule, and the search function is a joke.

Too bad, actually Prodigy & related are well cared by Alekz and few others. There are dozens of complete and correct subs, some which need to be completed with details and just few plain wrong.

man there is 385 prodigy submissions this is gonna take a while , anyone else here a mod?
something i have comes across which has some confused as other people are saying otherwise , when it comes to promo releases you keep the credits so long as you know that the vocals or rapper etc are still present just add [Uncredited] to it so say you have a promo cd with Diesel Power if you can still hear Kool Keith you must add him so your sub would look like this
Diesel Power
Vocals [Uncredited] - Kool Keith
Quote: 5. Do not keep credits that are not present on the version of the release you are submitting. If the promo version lacks extra artists, remove those credits, as the retail version could have involved different musicians or technical people. The only credits that could remain would be vocal credits, where you can tell that the same singer, rapper or other vocalist is present on the new submission as is on the original. As with any uncredited role included on a submission, add [Uncredited] after the role.

I used to be a moderator but I kinda gave up on it since I ran out of time to look at it properly.
Nowadays Discogs is really going downhill if you ask me. No personal issues or anything but I noticed several errors in contributing being approved as valid and the other way around. For instance Arie posted the What evil lurks testpress around 1,5 year ago. For some reason this is getting votes for changes while a promo version of this is allready approved. I don't really get this since there are no promo's of WEL (aslo EITP and Charly) just test pressings of 10 each. So I have to agree with Chaosu and ask the moderators who are on this if they really know what they're doing? I guess not, since they're just mindlessly applying rules without knowing anything about the releases they're commenting / voting on. Maybe they should listen more to the contributors who actually own these items (I also noticed a lot of releases contributed by users who don't own certain items, (I thought this was rule number 1.) how can u possibly think these contributions are accurate?

They should convert it to a real wiki....
....and screw silly shit like "capitalization" rules which just makes submissions take months longer.
Plus a search function that isnt retarded would still be nice
