I suppose for the credits it could work, dunno how it would be in the film itself, it would probably turn it into a comedy or something

Another remake of the 1978 film is to be directed by Alexandre Aja, who worked on the 2006 remake The Hills Have Eyes. Piranha is estimated for theatrical release in the United States in 2009.

Is there a video of Comanche? The Prodigy keep getting better n better. I love not having to wait 7 years between albums. 4 years i can do. hopefully the next Prdgy album will be out in 2 to 3 yrs around 2010-2011.

Well, Piranha will achieve everything but scare me, so i don't think it'd be good suited for a horror movie. Plus, those scooby-doo sounds are comical, not scary. :)

yeah it wouldnt fit in the context of a scary film.
but shirley it could be used as music in the trailer or as the victory song (for sitting through the film maybe? sorta like pumpkins the end is the beginning is the ned at the end of batman & robin) films end credits. then ppl who see it will ask "Who the song by at the end credits of Pirahna?"

just got a copy of the album about a week or so ago...

I've got to say, yea - it definitely has it's high points. But you'd be kidding yourself if you didn't think that it sounds a bit too much like "Music for the Jilted Generation Part 2"

that being said...

it's definitely a LOT stronger than AONO, and feels like it was actually worked on, and stuff was ironed out (which couldn't be said for AONO which felt like half done demo's mostly - which btw is inexcusable for how long it took for its release, but I digress....)

is it just me, or are there MANY portions of the album that make you stop and go "Wait where did I hear that track before?"

like how "Run With The Wolves" is pretty much just "Warning" with kid-friendly lyrics and a bit at the end that sounds like "Narayan Beats" (from the mid-90's live tour) [and the very intro of the track is the same as most/all performances of "Trigger" from back in 2001]

or how Colours used the SAME beats as "Memphis Bells" or the bass @ 2:30 sounds the same (again) as "Warning"

yeah that has been my worry, especially when you hear the guys interviewed, its seems from a creative point of view, liam struggles to write these days, but thats not just the prodigy it happens to a lot of great bands, the first 5 months of writing IMD produced nothing and they started again, i think when you are so successful as the prodigy were in that period from 92 till 98, i dont care what people say you will try to recapture that time, liam howlett is yes is too clever and talented to to write any old repeated shit so to speak, but this album is not a massive push in a new direction or groundbreaking as we are so used to as prodigy fans... i think people are over hyping the greatness of this album, its mad to compare this with the golden era of the prodigy, take it for a great album of 2009 which it will be but for me it will never rank alongside the 3 great prodigy albums and i wish people wouldnt try to put it with these,....i do think some of the stuff on this album is a bit lazy from a creative point of view especially when you talk of liam being arguably the most important guys ever in electronic music...you set such high standards you expect it all the time and that is impossible!...just my humble opinion anyway..

Warning is such a good track arguably the best he done sine FOTL, never got why they didnt push this track more with lyrics and an album appearance..this is what a prodigy track should sound like

They stopped playing it since October 08 when Run debuted in Spain

Personally, this feels like the proper 'sequel' (if there is such a thing) to FOTL; none of this AONO bollocks (which, I'm afraid to say, I thought was a pile of shit).
Hence I'm so glad that the lads have come up trumps with this album.

You really do need to hear this on a massive sound system. An iPod or headphones just doesn't do the album justice.
Tracks like RWTW and Warriors Dance kind of loose some of their Live energy in the studio versions, but coupled with a decent subwoofer nearly makes up for this.

It's almost like the album is split into two sections; the first being either singles or potential ones - Thunder, Colours and TMTTH could easily be released on their own.
However, the tracks after Hospital are a little less accessible; Piranha being one of the main 'growers' with it's 50's horror movie retro-feel.

After a week of living with the album, here are my track summaries:

Invaders Must Die - 7/10
I thought it was awful when I first heard it, but I appreciate the vibe of it now.

Omen - 9/10
Excellent tune and good choice of single - not surprisingly it's the most radio-friendly.
Not the strongest on the album though.

Thunder - 10/10
Superb track; one of the highlights on the album - love the reggae style vocal.
Wouldn't surprise me if this was the second single.
The one I've listened to most.

Colours - 9/10
This falls into the 'either love it, or not keen' category,
Nice to hear the vocal collab. A great synth line made from a sound that could have otherwise sounded a bit naff.
One of the beat loops reminds me of Memphis Bells - but it's like it turned round to it and said, "look, fuck off and let me show you how it's done!"
An early favourite, but surpassed by TMTTH and Thunder.

Take Me To The Hospital - 10/10
Fucking awesome track - the old skool lives on.
Keith's vocal appearance gives this an extra edge with a wicked change of direction half-way through.

Warriors Dance - 7/10
Not massively keen but a pretty good tune nevertheless. Because of it being more familiar, and with the sample, I can see this being a potential single.
The bass hook sounds a little distorted and overpowers the beat - but I hope that's just down to the promo rip.

Run With The Wolves - 8.5/10
This sounds massive as a Live track but here it feels like it's lost some energy.
Could have possibly had a guitar thrown in to beef it up a bit but with the squelchy acid synths later on it becomes a bit of a monster.
Use a big sound system when listening to this.

Omen Reprise - 6/10
What there is sounds great.
But it feels unfinished and like a missed opportunity for an absolute classic - otherwise it would have scored much higher.

World's On Fire - 8/10
Again, one of the more immediately recognisable tracks from earlier Live shows.
Liked it live and about the same here, but it's not quite the big-hitter that TMTTH or Thunder are.

Piranha - 8/10
A grower and needs to be heard on a big system. A good tune, albeit not as accessible as the other tracks.
Some of the synths sound like they were inspired by a cheap 50's horror movie - which, given that Liam's a fan of horror films, wouldn't surprise me if that was the intention.

Stand Up - 9/10
Real feel-happy tune which I could expect to hear as a soundtrack to the climax of a film.
There's a good twist in the middle of the track that incorporates an acid line over the beat and works really well.

Albums:
Experience - 10/10
Jilted - 10/10
FOTL - 9/10
AONO - 4/10
IMD - 9/10

Other points - my own observations:
- On TMTTH the sample 'Hold It!' (01:25) sounds similar to the vocal used on Rip Up The Sound System.
- Thunder, when the vocal is played solo there's a synth underneath, at the end of the sample, that sounds similar to the intro synth in SMBU.

Album is full of old prodigy samples! Copy/pasted or reconstructed/re-filtered. Nothing big about it! This is how prodigy always works!

Yep thats it. Dunno why ppl said that Liam is not creative anymore because he use old samples. Thats how it goes. Every prodge album is like that. Experience has samples from What Evil Lurks ep and demo tape. So what Its still a great album. Just like Invaders Must Die.

Half of the stuff that's sampled was never released!? You technically shouldn't have heard it unless you were at one of the gigs...

well - that's not necessarily true - it's not HALF

and yea - about hearing stuff from before; I actually was at one of the gigs
back when they came to the US for the "Their Law" tour, I saw them in DC

they played "Warning" there - and an instrumental version of it was officially released on the "Smoking Aces" soundtrack

and do you guys think that there's any connection between "Gun Reprise" or whatever it's called and "Omen (Reprise)"? I totally forgot about that track...

if you don't know what I mean ->

originally there was "Trigger" which eventually became "Shootdown"
an early version of "Shoot Down" was called "Guns [feat. Liam on vocal and Noel on bass]" and the studio version got played on the BBC in 2007

there was also a reprise of it - part/most of it was put on the "Their Law DVD" as a hidden track (Labeled as something like "Always Outnumbered Outtakes" or something to that effect) and then even played live later along the "Their Law / Greatest Hits Tour" ... I think in like Japan or something...

I think Stress by Justice would make an awesome score for it if remixed a little. It reminds me of the Jaws theme.
