Here's an update on this topic.

I just got the ATR 1992 - 2000 CD. In the booklet Alec Empire talks about the history of ATR, which includes the following:

Alec Empire wrote:
Many electronica acts, including the Prodigy had looked to ATR's concept of combining punk rock and hard electronic beats. [...]. (For those who doubt that ATR was first on all of these changes in music, go back, look at the release dates and then think again...)

My take on this:

Even ATR being first, that still doesn't mean Liam looked to them for inspiration. He has stated that he was inspired by RATM and Nirvana for MftJG.

They should do a rework of No Souvenirs. I bet that would come out the day it got recorded.

whose name would come first on the cover?

they could always join their names together: by liec and alam sorta thing.
or make an anagram of their names: 'i am a cell'
or if you put all of it together you get: 'A measlier convulsion'

so that's their release sorted then

Just saw this for the first time. LOL, jugo. L.O.fuckin'.L. :)

i'm a huge Prodigy fan and a huge ATR fan...
but at least Liam pushes the envelope a little bit with each album.
ATR has been doing the same sound since they started.
I never felt ATR developed or grown over time
even when Alec Empire did his solo stuff, it just sounded like bland ATR
yes, ATR stuck with the more basic fundamentals of punk music with their sound and kinda honoring the lo fi quality in their music.
I think Liam and Alec both are inspired by different aspects of punk and made it their own.

Prodigy fake?
I don't think Prodigy ever tried to be something they weren't. The politics side to MFTJG came more from the critics and reviewers it seemed.

I agree with all of the above.

Was like who's ATR? until someone actually wrote Atari Teenage Riot lol Yeah I always thought they sounded kinda cool. Heard them on the MTV Amp'd cd and Spawn soundtrack think some other compilations too. Think I may of tried to download some of the other songs but couldn't really get into them anymore then that. Just from what quotes people have put up and the statement in his booklet he sounds like he's full of himself. The Prodigy never tried to pretend to be anything they just make great music. But they still easily made the best anti anthem ever with Their Law. Hands down owns any other song trying to have a political message without ever trying. lol

ATR and Prodigy are like Yin and Yang.....they both are almost the same, but at opposite ends of the spectrum.....only Prodigy doesn't need to acknowledge ATRs existence. But I wont hold it against Alec for talking shit, mainly because his whole philosophy is talking major shit.

I love them both

Sorry but ive only just picked up on this post so forgive me if im a tad bit late with this comment!

The Prodigy dont have any political energy! That would be due to the fact that they are not a political band and do not make political music! Yes you can argue that MFTJG was a direct result of CJB at that time but Liam stated in many interviews that wasnt what he was thinking of when he wrote it. Yes he was heavily influenced by the darkness that Rage came out with with their first album but that was all it was for Liam, an influence!

If the Prodigy were a political band then i doubt very much they would have gotton as far as they have in their carears!

At least Prodigy makes decent music. People have nothing on their music. As far as 'riots' go, screaming 'fuck all' fifteen times is very, very simple.
