Would be better with RokWeiler. I mean the dog bark would make more put attention to wtf the prodigy is on about. :D

After a week (has it been longer?) I dont think Nasty is even close to Omen if I'm honest.

The production and mastering are way better on nasty, but the feeling I get when I listen is completely different, its still great, but only the level of say, colours or RWTW. It needs a section with a different chord structure. Do what you did for colours live and you have a fairly decent track.

IMO it should have just released it as a freebie with the album and thats it.

Still happy with the direction of the album, thats 1 track out of how many??

Sounds better than Nasty tbh!

Btw, is this some other female vocal there? Screaming "Get Up" or something like that? Reminds me to Juliete Lewis!

I think the vocal is from Martina Topley-Bird.
According to the last Neko interview and also if you check one of her tunes it does sound like her.

Quote:
Because when we were in Munich you said that you’ve got about an albums worth of stuff that didn’t make it on the album , would you at all consider putting any of the stuff just online?

Liam: Absolutely yeah. None of this stuff will roll over to a possible next album or anything. That’s it for now, so, you know, absolutely 100% we will do that you know, for sure. Haha, you know me and my promises!

There’s some good tunes there though you know, it’s like – I did this wicked tune. It was going to be a collaboration with another vocalist, and I got Martina [Topley-Bird] in who used to be with Tricky to do this kind of Ella Fitzgerald vocal that I sampled. She was fucking amazing. She just sung these couple of lines but that wasn’t the collaboration, it was another vocalist that was with her on that tune but it works with just her vocal.

What’s it called?

Liam: The working title is ‘The Day’s My Enemy’.

Usually bands are releasing worst or weakest tracks from albums as first singles, just to make the album more surprise.

Uh, no.

Indeed, no way.

That snippet gave me goosebumps, sounds so sinister! And this is how it's supposed to be with Prodigy music, instant shivers, YES.

That surveillance camera video would be a great idea for an actual full music video. Night vision always has a kind of creepy vibe. Imagine Keef coming out of a trash can with glowing white eyes or something, eeeek!

Did anyone notice the military drums on this new version of Day Is My Enemy might be actually slowed down from Eagle Break?

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f1QcBuN54hQ 0:20 !

as the drum hits are getting slower. At least I immidiately thought about this! Might not be actually sampled from that orchestral thing, but he could've recreated those to sound more hard-hitting. Nasty's eagle break part sounded quite stretched so can be that the original source isn't that great quality.

But if your first single is huge, much more people will buy your album.

Firestarter didnt hurt fotl.

Its a real weird strategy to release a bad tune first

Firestarter was obviously not a "weak" first single, and was a massive game-changer for the band commercially which then built up a massive hype for the album. But it wasn't the strongest track on TFOTL by a long shot and neither was Breathe, so if we are comparing the release of Nasty in these terms it bodes well for TDIME.

Saying that Firestarter and Breathe were not the strongest tracks on TFOTL and comparing their release to Nasty's release is one hell of a strange logic  These two tracks were probably the biggest milestones in The Prodigy's history. I bet you don't consider them as one of the best tracks on TFOTL just because you've listened to them so many times due to their commercial success and now you just prefer to skip them.. Anyways even if you really do not consider them as such it doesn't change the fact that Nasty is not even close to their quality and importance.

I know its her singing "The day is my enemy the night my friend". But am talking about screaming voice after. It sounds like different woman to me...

Its nothing with Neko here. This interview was years ago when "The Day" was some Trap bullshit. Today, this song is reworked into something totally different.
